The main exhibition of the oldest museum in the Voronezh region features approximately two thousand authentic artifacts. After exploring these artifacts, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the fascinating and extensive history of the formation and evolution of the Voronezh land, spanning from the Upper Paleolithic period to the era of space exploration.
While on a guided or a self-guided tour, visitors can explore the harsh and perilous world of ancient humans, uncover the mysteries of Bronze Age tribes, and become acquainted with the nomadic peoples — the Cimmerians, Scythians, and Sarmatians. Additionally, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the birth of Voronezh and its development as a naval center. The museum’s halls also display a variety of exhibits that focus on the establishment of Voronezh as a prominent commercial and industrial hub in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Separate sections are dedicated to the aristocratic and peasant cultures of the time.
The exhibition vividly describes Voronezh and its role in the 20th century. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the events of the First World War, the February and October revolutions, and the Russian Civil War, and understand how these events affected the Voronezh region. The exhibition highlights the development of Voronezh before and after World War II, including one of the most significant achievements of this land and its inhabitants — the development of the space industry.
Most of the exhibits in the
museum have been collected thanks to the hard work of archaeologists, local
historians, and museum staff.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
