The exhibition ‘Irkutsk: at the crossroads of migration routes’ demonstrates artefacts that are thousands of years old: hunting and fishing tools, beads and miniature sculptures, bones and burial tools.
The exhibition tells about the life and culture of the ancient population of Eastern Siberia. Visitors to the exhibition can learn how people arranged their homes, made utensils and what kind of funeral traditions existed in the Stone Age. In addition, the skulls of the extinct animals can be seen at the exhibition: mammoth, woolly rhinoceros and steppe bison.
The sections of the exhibition tell not only about the material and spiritual side of the life of the ancient inhabitants of Siberia, but also about the conditions in which people existed, about their interaction with the world around them, about the routes they took, exploring new continents.
