The exhibition “Stary Oskol: from a Fortress to a Metals Giant” includes paleontological, archeological, numismatic, ethnographic, and technical collections and household items from the Stary Oskol land.
Museum activities are focused on the preservation, study and popularization of historical and cultural monuments, as well as living conditions in Stary Oskol region. Museum collections of more than 50 thousand exhibits reflect the history and culture of the whole region from ancient times to the present.
The main collections kept in the museum are unique. 95% of them are authentic items, preserving their original appearance and the spirit of the bygone era. Paleontological, archeological, numismatic and other collections can become subjects of scientific research due to their number and quality of scientific work.
The collections are placed in seven permanent exhibition halls: “Fortress Oskol”, “Nature of the region”, “Ethnography of the region”, “A Stary Oskol living room”, “Political events in the region in the first quarter of the 20th century”, ‘Hall of Military Glory”, “Postwar period”. The exhibition covers all the halls, focusing on the most notable items.
