The ‘Collection of Classic Art in Tatarstan’ permanent exhibition occupies four halls in the main building of the museum. The hall of Old Russian painting displays precious works of icon painting. The icons ‘The Virgin of Tenderness’ created at the turn of 16th century and ‘St. Nicholas the Wonderworker’ from the 17th century have preserved their original elements.
The hall of Western European art contains the paintings by such artists as Domenico Puligo, Benvenuto Tisi and others. The collection of Andrey Likhachov holds a special place in the museum, for he was a fine art connoisseur and collected the rarest works by Western European painters from the 16th–19th centuries.
In the hall of Russian art, the visitors can see the paintings by Vasily Tropinin, Ivan Shishkin, Ilya Repin, and Valentin Serov.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
